On a serene Sunday morning, the congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township gathered for worship, unaware of the impending horror.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., a 40 year old man drove his vehicle into the church's front doors, disrupting the peaceful service.
Exiting the vehicle, he began shooting indiscriminately at the assembled worshippers.
The attack resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to nine others.
In the chaos, the suspect is believed to have set the church ablaze, leading to a massive fire that engulfed the building.
Flames and smoke were visible for hours as firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the inferno.
First responders are currently sifting through the wreckage, with concerns that additional victims may be discovered in the fire-damaged areas.
Police Chief William Renye addressed the media, stating, "We do believe we will find some additional victims once we find the area where the fire was."
The suspect was subsequently shot by police officers at the scene.
His identity has not been released, and authorities are still investigating his motives.
